Swift Aircraft -Aeralis Collaboration
Swift Technology Group has the privilege of being involved in a game-changing aviation project with Aeralis.
Swift Aircraft is assisting with digital design and model-based engineering to test their brand-new British military aircraft. While AMEL has produced full-scale mockups using composite manufacturing, using similar techniques to the eventual production aircraft.
Aeralis is solving issues faced by air forces for generations challenged with operating a mix of single point aircraft designs, by offering a modular design jet aircraft reconfigurable to cover a variety of roles including operational training, basic jet training, aerobatics and light combat. Many of the Swift Group’s missions are aligned with Aeralis, and it’s been fantastic to work with another British aviation company whose aims are similar.
Talking about the initial two mock-ups, which took AMEL only months to produce from start to finish including CAD modelling, tooling, final production and wrapping, Aeralis describe how visitors to their stand at DIMDEX 2022 last month were wowed by the replicas, with many visitors wanting selfies with the aircraft!
AERALIS were themselves captivated when they saw the finished models for the first time.
"We are immensely impressed by Swift's professional commitment and ability to deliver these mock-ups to a very high standard in short time-scales. We are very excited to continue working with Swift as part of the next phase of the AERALIS programme." Tristan Crawford, CEO AERALIS.
The video below is a short compilation of the mock-up production, this video was taken at Swift’s impressive facilities on the former RAF Coltishall site, with Swift Aircraft and AMEL personnel hard at work through design and manufacture. It’s a great snippet of one of the amazing projects we are involved in - we are incredibly proud of our part in this venture so far and already working with AERALIS in the next phase of development.
